An Introduction To L.B.R.T.

L.B.R.T. - A BRIEF HISTORY

London Bus Repaints and Transfers was established in 1990 when we started to produce transfers suitable for the then newly introduced EFE RT model and bus kits. The range has grown over the years in line with the growth of new diecast models added to the EFE, OOC and Britbus ranges.

We have focused our range on London Transport and it's successors, and have built up an extensive range of blind sets, covering both central red and country green routes. The blinds are available in various formats making them suitable for use on a wide range of different diecast and kit built model types.

The range also includes a varied selection of fleet names and logos which cover the many styles that have appeared on London's buses since the 1930's.
We even produce the smaller items which add that authentic finishing touch to your models, legal lettering, unladen weights, garage codes, fleet numbers and registration plates.

All our transfers are designed in house using the latest computer graphics design software. The high quality waterslide transfers are printed using the traditional silk screen process and are produced by a leading manufacturer who have many years experience in the field, they used to produce the transfers for Airfix kits, this is how they began their business over 60 years ago,and still use the same printing methods today
LBRT transfers are exactly the same as Airfix were, just emerse in warm water and slide onto the model..

We are fully licensed by the London Transport (Licence No. 01/3507) to use the famous Johnston typeface and reproduce official insignia, fleet names and advertisements.

The transfer range now runs to over 1500 individual items, and includes a range of period adverts covering the era from the 1930's to the present day, many of these are also suitable for use on non London models.

The biggest event for us was the launch of this website back in 2005, this has allowed us to update model stock levels on a regular basis and keep customers up to date with new models & transfers as and when they are announced.
During 2006 we introduced a email newsletter service which allows us to alert our customers on a regular basis to new items and occasional special offers. You can join the service by using the option above left.

In September 2006 the business was relocated to larger office premises but our stay there was curtailed by our local councils decision in September to evict us and sell the site to a developer for a new housing estate. The business is now once again run from my home.

Since 2007 my wife Cherry who suffers from MS has seen a deterioration in her health and as I'm her carer this has greatly affected the amount of time I now have available to produce rally models, make up transfer orders and generally spend running the business.
I therefore decided during late 2008 to re-focus my operations, I will stop producing the rally models after 2009 season and from the 1st January 2009 all transfer sales passed to Bus Stop Models. Additionally due to the now high cost of printing the transfers I have been forced to cancel all future plans for new transfers and re-prints of the existing range. This will unfortunately mean over time some items will become out of stock.

On a brighter note I now intend to concentrate on my Buy It Now range of models, during 2009 I will produce a wider range of models and hope introduce some options allowing my customer's more say in the models they are can purchase.

L.B.R.T. RE DECORATED MODELS

We have for many years produced a range of code 3 models professionally redecorated using our range of transfers and have also produced special limited edition models for several events and organizations since 1997, notably the Country Bus Rallies and Amersham Running Day. Details of our releases can be found by clicking the 'L.B.R.T. Models' link.

Unfortunately the number of redecorated models has had to be reduced in recent years due to my wifes poor health . However we are continuing to produce models for the Country Bus Rallies, Amersham Running Days and a number of other specials these should continue to the end of 2009 when I shall be retiring.

We have produced a series of commissioned rally models during 2008 for details see the LBRT Models page. We have already started planning the models for the 2009 and I will announce further details early in the New Year. Note this will be the last year that I will produce these rally specials.

TRANSFER SALES

Since the 1st January 2009 all sales of our range of waterslide transfers are now handled by BUS STOP MODELS through their model shop in South Harrow. Ordering details and a full on-line catalogue of the entire transfer range can be found on their website.

PLACING ORDERS

You can place orders in a number of ways, by post, or phone, payments can be accepted by cheque, postal order, stamps, or by credit and debit card. We always endeavour to send all orders as quickly as possible but please allow us time to produce the model/s where appropriate.
If you order using a credit or debit card you will be issued with a customer reference code which will then allow you to make future orders using email or our online order form. For further ordering details check the 'How to Order' option. Please note due to the data protection act you will also need to supply your debit/credit card details to Bus Stop Models if you wish to order transfers from them.

Finally many thanks are extended to all my loyal customers for their continued custom.
